Popular Science Best of 2008!
When I was in middle school in the 70’s, Popular Science was my bible. I was a devoted subscriber and anxiously awaited the arrival of each new issue (and still do!). To now have a product that’s been recognized by them is a genuine thrill.
We are honored to have made the Best of What’s New in ‘08 list. Thanks to all the editors at Popular Science. We appreciate your support and recognition.
Now the goal is to keep up the pace of innovation and earn ourselves another place on the list in 2009

What are your thoughts on the iPhone and all the apps that can be made for it?
Couldnt the iPhone along with it’s apps do everything your product does? Maybe I am not getting what the difference is between the iPhone with its apps and your product?

Thanks for the comment. Apple’s iPhone is an awesome product. But BUG is different in many ways. First and foremost, BUG is modular, which means that you can quickly add (or subtract) new hardware capabilities via snap on modules. So while the iPhone is capable of running a ton of useful apps, as soon as you want to write an application that requires, say, a CO2 detector, or thermal imager (or both!) you run into problems.
Another big difference –> BUG is open source on both the hardware and software side. This translates into significant differences in the freedom you, as a developer, have to innovate, share and capitalize on your efforts.
