Haiku looks great, if only it could use the Linux drivers, it would rocket into prominence once it is feature complete. But Linux is GPLv2, OpenSolaris is GPLv3, *BSD is obviously BSD, and now Haiku uses the MIT license. It would be great to have ZFS on Linux, it would be great to run Haiku on every piece of driver in my house (which Linux can) immediately after it gets released, but it probably won't happen. It seems like the biggest thing holding your vision back are licensing issues not technical ones. Haiku says "For integral parts of the OS (like the kernel, and libraries providing the public API such as libbe) we reject contributions governed by an "infectious" license (e.g. the GPL)"" but it also says "for applications, kernel drivers, and most add-ons, the only further restriction is that the license does not contain special conditions we cannot or do not want to accept". So I'm not sure if they will or won't take Linux drivers if they could, but from my view they should have just gone GPL so they could share with Linux or Solaris and all the momentum behind them.
