Thanks for your candor JJ. I'd love to discuss these points in more detail with you. Can you make it to our event next Wednesday? If not, feel free to email me at peter (a) buglabs (dot) net.

One of the reasons we have this blog, the open forums, the wiki, etc is to encourage this type of dialog. We want to hear it all - the good, the bad, the ugly. We want/need everyone's feedback.

Thanks again.

1) Stay away from the toady VC-groupie community, and the hyper-esoteric analyst-type VC mumbo-jumbo. It's worse than small pox.

2) Don't make the Abrams/Friendster mistake of all show and no go, flashy public appearances without solid product, super-hype to build anticipation only to tell interested persons, "Sorry... come back in a few months. Oh, did we tell you about our NEXT plans?!" It's suicide.

3) Bury the "SW is everything / HW is nothing" nonsense, NOW. The only people who think that are people who aren't particularly good at either one.

4) Take a closer look at existing competition that is already available for less, does more, and is better known. Then ask yourself what you're doing that they aren't. No one is going to pay hundreds of dollars just to join your club.

You do have a great idea, but you need more than that. Your execution sucks.
I hope you get help before it's too late.
